Topping the speedometer at 182mph and travelling 1,345 miles in only 5 races, Taynuilt road racer Robert Wilson has described his first Isle of Man TT event as the best thing he has ever done.
Robert spent two weeks on the island, practicing and competing and had initially planned to only compete in two 600cc superstock races.
However, whilst at the North West Championship in the lead up to his Isle of Man TT adventure, Robert was invited to race with sondel racing kawasaki, with their 2011 kawasaki ZX10 1000cc superbike - He jumped at the chance and was told that he could ride the bike on the Isle of Man too.
"I had never ridden a superbike before the North West but it was an amazing opportunity I just couldn't turn down. l suppose it was pretty daunting at the time: the power difference was unbelievable to the extent that when i got back to my own 600cc bike I thought there was something wrong with it."
Robert was one of severn rookies invited to compete at the Isle of Man TT and, on his 600cc bike was the fastest rookie in the first race. He was placed second in the second race because of a 30 second time penalty incurred by going just 0.2kmph over the pit lane speed.

Umpteen gym sessions, running, cycling, and playing on a playstation have all been crucial training for motorcyclist Robert Wilson ahead of the toughest race of his life.
The Taynuilt man has been given only one of severn newcomer spots on this year's Isle of Man TT, a 37 mile course that is still regarded as the world's most gruelling road race. In what is the centenary year of the famous race, Robert is realistic about his chances of success and has set himself a goal of winning the "Best Rookie" prize.
